Summary:

The Enterprise Network Architect is responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation and support of the health systems network architecture, including LANs, WANs and data centers at all hospitals, clinics and other facilities supporting core organization functions and for assuring high availability and performance of organization systems. Works closely with the business to understand needs that can be addressed through process and technology solutions. Establishes and manages standards and architecture policies and procedures. Analyzes and recommends capital and operational budget, long range planning and projects within areas of responsibility to meet business needs. Mentors team members designing and building technical solutions. Promotes teamwork and communication between staff, management, clinicians, and stakeholders while maintaining high standards and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
(20%)* Process/ Best practices/ Continuous Improvement Designs and implements long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate networks. Ensures proposed and existing system architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
(40%)* Content Knowledge & Leadership Provides architectural expertise for the overall technical network infrastructure implementation and integration, working closely with infrastructure staff, integration leadership, IT management, vendors and stakeholders. Stays current on advances in network technologies that can be leveraged to meet business needs. Serves as SME (subject matter expert) across network technologies and solutions supporting LAN, WAN and Datacenter and provide troubleshooting and process expertise leveraging and developing team expertise. Documents the organizations existing network system architecture and technology portfolio and makes recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives. Ensures design decisions include considerations across solutions and fall within scope.
(30%)* Projects/ Request Management - Develops and leverages team leads for creation of project work plans and tasks for IT requests, assists with managing the IT requests through monitoring resource assignment, prioritizing requests with stakeholders, to optimize resource allocation and execution of project, IT requests, and support tasks. Management of the technical architecture to be deployed with a system-wide transformational Epic implementation.
(10%)* Development Mentors team members designing and building technical network solutions. Maintains professional development and growth to keep abreast of changes in network technology and healthcare in general. Conducts research on network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network technology efforts related to meeting business needs.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as liaison and coordinates final network problem resolution in regards to interaction between customers and IT throughout MyMichigan Health.

Facilitates a uniform demonstration of IT network services throughout MyMichigan Health by developing system-wide policies & procedures.

Assists with IT capital and operating budget as requested.

Recommends, schedules and performs network improvements, upgrades and repairs.

Develops, maintains and ensures the accuracy and completeness of network related technical documentation as needed.

Promotes the development, analysis, and implementation of the performance improvement process.

Participates on System/project/hospital/department teams and/or committees as needed.

Supervises technical aspects in network-related areas with regard to services, programs and the evaluation of each.

Travel may be required.

Certifications and Licensures:

Required Education:

Bachelors degree required

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field required.

Master's Degree preferred.

Other Information:

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND SKILLS:

**A minimum of ten (10) years in implementing and managing complex network infrastructure in a large enterprise environment.**

Valid Cisco CCNP route/switch certification required.

Expert knowledge of network architecture in a large environment.

Expert understanding of network protocols, design, performance and development.

Expert understanding of IP addressing and subnetting, including design and implementation.

Strong understanding of VLANs and networks supporting servers and storage.

Proven project planning and management experience.

Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities.

Understanding of current regulations and laws around data privacy and security in healthcare.

Experience working in a healthcare 24/7 enterprise network environment.

Experience with Quality of Service for Voice and Video.

Experience with Ciscos Identity Services Engine (ISE) or similar system.

Experience supporting DHCP and DNS operations, design and implementation utilizing BlueCat or a similar system.

Working knowledge of VPNs, including remote access.

Proficient with monitoring and logging tools for access management and troubleshooting using such tools as Syslog, ACS, Netflow, Solarwinds and protocol analyzers.

Ability to work with network security devices such as Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Netscaler, Juniper and Trellix IDS/IPS.

Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMWare.

Experience with ITSM functionalities such as change control, CMDB and ticket system.

Understanding of disaster recovery, design, implementation, and testing.

Ability to work independently and within a team environment to ensure performance, reliability and security in a dynamic 24x7x365 production network environment.

Written and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level:Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
