Summary of function: The Industrial programmer / SCADA is responsible for designing and programing software to automate design and industrial programing tasks.

Essential Job Functions:

• High level language programming for a variety of applications. This includes .NET, Java, Python, C, C++, etc.
• SQL database design and programming including stored procedures
• Read/Write in Ladder Logic
• Design and program custom industrial applications in Ignition and Factory Talk
• Basic Understanding of VLAN and Private Networks
• Familiar with Allen Bradley and other common PLC’s
• Design and program reporting systems using data stored in SQL databases
• Design and program web-based applications.
• Learn to break deliverables down into tasks and update manager on task progress.
• Learn to communicate with management and end users regarding scope changes
• Upon learning the scope of the project, program using various industrial SCADA packages on various project sizes without the supervision of a project lead, manager, or project manager.
• Upon learning the scope of the project, program using various industrial MES packages on various project sizes without the supervision of a project lead, manager, or project manager.
• Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing user interfaces within the scope of the project.
• Program clean, professional looking interfaces on a variety of platforms within the scope of the project.
• Implement and design software to support proper testing prior to commissioning.
• Maintain a current technical skill set through any means necessary including reading, online training, attending seminars, formal classroom training, project experience, etc.
• Provide technical oversight and quality control on projects to ensure project success.
• Help mentor and train others throughout the organization as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science, Math, Software, Chemical, Mechanical or electrical engineering preferred, or relevant experience.
• Experience with Ignition or Sepasoft is plus.
• Understand at least two of the following: C#, C++, Java, Python
• Proficiency in the design/architecture and programming of SQL databases
• Proficiency in web-based development and systems programming
• Proficiency in commonly used industrial communications hardware including Ethernet, RS-232, and RS-485
• Proficiency in commonly used industrial protocols including Modbus, CIP, OPC-UA, and TCP/IP
• Ability to quickly understand complex applications.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply industry standard software design practices and programming methodologies.
• If not already certified, attain at least two of the Ignition gold, Wonderware Certified Developer, or WinCC OA Certified Engineer status within first year of employment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
