Monument Chemical in Brandenburg, KY is seeking candidates for a Utilities Supervisor.

DUTIES

The Utilities Supervisor will oversee and coordinate operation of all Utility areas ensuring uninterrupted operation of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), and continuous supply of steam, different qualities of water, natural gas, electricity, compressed air, and other utilities. This includes but is not limited to:

HSE & Legal Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT and all HSE rules, policies, practices and procedures all the time.
  • Understand and implement codes, laws and regulations governing the water and wastewater systems.
  • Manage MOCs for Utilities area. Execute and follow up PSSR process related to the area.
  • Lead and/or participate in process hazard analysis; support and implement corresponding action items.
  • Lead and/or participate in root cause investigations; support and implement corresponding action items.
  • Verify all MOC, PHA, PSSR requirements are met prior to start-up of equipment involved in area projects.

Quality & Standardization

  • Ensure good quality utilities are being supplied to the plants, such as:
    • Instrumentation air with low moisture
    • Clean raw water (no particles, foreign objects, salts that might block pipes/exchangers)
    • Demineralized water following best standards for boiler use
    • Nitrogen with very high purity.
  • Ensure wastewater treatment inlets and outlets have desired quality.
  • Support plants in continuous improvement projects to improve their processes and quality through improvements in utility area.
  • Identify/develop standard processes across shifts improving overall quality and Utilities output.
  • Enforce operational discipline in all areas/processes.

Productivity/Cost

  • Ensure high levels of availability of all plant Utilities.
  • Supervises operation, inspection and maintenance of all utility and wastewater treatment equipment to ensure efficient operation aiming high level of people and plant performance.
  • Ensure than an operation training system for operators is in place and performs system audits to verify effectiveness.
  • Develop and update all pertinent work instructions and SOPs.
  • Works with other areas defining demands (actual and future). Define projects, outages, preventative maintenances to improve supply, quality and costs.
  • Responsible for performance management of all Utilities employees, striving for improved safety, quality and shift to shift consistency.
  • Create/review production performance metrics and utilization rates to develop improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct structured problem solving of incidents, out of spec materials and lead improvement measures for corrective and preventative.
  • Develop production key performance indicators. Update/review KPIs daily (or every shift).

People

  • Lead Utilities organization and area employees efficiently.
  • Ensure appropriate job-related qualifications and training. Develop KPIs to track people performance.
  • Lead, motivate and develop employees in line with the principles of the company. Define succession plan.
  • Provide technical assistance for the safe and efficient operation of the Utilities processes.
  • Complete all mid and annual performance reviews on schedule.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma required. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred,

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 or more years of related experience in maintenance, production and/or utilities management and coordination, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with highly hazardous chemicals in an OSHA PSM environment highly preferred.
  • Specific knowledge of wastewater treatment, boiler operation, reverse osmosis, water treatment highly perferred.
  • Proficiency in math and in utilization of Excel spreadsheets required.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to learn and understand production schedules.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Good organizational, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and basic computer skills are necessary
  • Customer focused and service oriented
