The Electrical Engineer position is responsible for the development, integration, and testing of electrical systems to execute the intended goals of specific spaceflight projects and continual improvement projects related to the electrical engineering functional team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to serving as the electrical engineering functional team representative for specific projects throughout the lifecycle process from initial testing to return from flight and ensuring that assigned projects adhere to the ST electrical architecture and processes.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
- 2+ years related engineering experience
- Knowledge of:
FPGA design and development
Analog and digital circuit design
PCB layout and manufacturing
Testing of mixed-signal circuit boards
Power system design
Mixed-signal system design (i.e. Ethernet, USB, I2C, SPI, UART, ADC/DACs)
Cable design and fabrication
Electrical hardware research and testing
Firmware design, development, and testing
Python programming
Software version control (Git)
Microcontrollers
Electrical test equipment
Technical writing
Preferred:
- 4+ years related engineering experience
- Extensive knowledge and professional experience with FPGA design and development
Xilinx ZYNQ, ProASIC, IGLOO platforms
- Extensive knowledge and professional experience in at least one of the following areas:
Microcontroller firmware development
Advanced PCB design and layout using Altium Designer
Interpersonal Skills
- Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals
- Attention to detail and creative and innovative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment that includes working with changing needs and requirements
- Ability to lead multiple technical projects and work with Electrical Engineering Manager and Project Managers to determine urgency of given task

- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques from both external and internal sources
Specific Responsibilities
- Represent the Electrical Engineering team on multiple, interdisciplinary spaceflight projects.
- Assist with the development of technical design documentation (requirements, diagrams, experiment protocols, etc.) and design project electrical systems accordingly.
- Develop FPGA-based flight computer architecture and support toolchain required for maintenance
- Develop, oversee manufacturing, and ensure performance of custom PCBs for specific project needs that align with existing payload circuit architecture
- Develop and manage custom firmware for specific project needs that align with existing payload firmware architecture
- Implement and verify electrical systems through various tests along the project lifecycle. Develop associated test plans and action plans based on results.
- Utilize the electrical hardware selection process to research new hardware capabilities for the team based on specific requirements.
- Coordinate development of complex project elements within the functional team.
- Adhere to functional team quality assurance practices to ensure high quality EE products.
- Serve as the primary electrical engineering representative for spaceflight projects by assisting with payload builds, testing, checkout, and quality assurance.
- Take initiative to coordinate inter-project team communication to solve project issues as they arise.
- Utilize other functional team members to provide feedback and guidance for project troubleshooting activities.
- Participate in external stakeholder communication in a professional manner.
- Identify improvements in standard project electrical systems to improve reliability, usability, and scalability.
- Lead continuous improvement electrical engineering projects.
- Gain expertise in applicable NASA safety requirements and regulations that apply to electrical engineering designs for spaceflight projects.
- Research existing industry electrical engineering platforms that could positively impact current or future company designs.
- Work closely with the Electrical Engineering functional team and project team(s) to ensure success of assigned projects.
- Travel to support customer or partner projects and launches.
