Project ManagerACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT: This position, which supports both waterfall and Agile IT projects across organizational lines, will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict timelines and within budget using established VyStar Credit Union policies and procedures. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members, third-party contractors and/or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle. Work at this level may vary in scope from medium to large-sized projects, impact multiple business units, utilize new or multiple technologies, possess an increased level of visibility, impact and risk, and may require communication at all levels of the organization. This role is managed under the general supervision of the Manager, Project Management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support both VyStar and business goals in collaboration with Senior Management and stakeholders. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Coordinate with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Track project milestones and deliverables. Facilitate project team meetings to review the project plan and monitor the activities of team members toward task and project achievement.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary. Where required, negotiate with other VyStar managers for the acquisition of required personnel. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Direct and manage projects from beginning to end. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle. Develop project plans and project documentation. Develop and deliver status reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Conduct project post-mortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise Associate Project Managers and project team members, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. Assist in developing VyStar best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Manage projects using waterfall methodology and may also be required to manage Agile or waterfall/Agile hybrid projects and act as a traditional project manager and/or a Scrum Master.
  • Demonstrate each of the following VyStar Excellence behaviors in performing the duties and responsibilities of their job.

JOB QUALIFICATIONSExperience
  • 10+ years implementing technology based business solutions or equivalent progression of related IT implementation roles
  • 5+ years in project management role using waterfall methodology is required
  • 3+ years in a Scrum Master role is strongly preferred
  • Significant hands-on experience in practical, daily Project Management activities
  • Roles in a financial institution where duties have been high-responsibility and multi-project in scope
  • Leveraged formal project management disciplines to manage development resources on a variety of projects
  • For project implementations, use of formal project methodology, documentation, and management practices
Skills and Abilities
  • This position requires an individual who can be successful in both an independent as well as a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.
  • The position also requires the ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • This position requires prompt and efficient reaction to project adjustments and alterations as well as an individual who is flexible during times of change.
  • This position also requires the ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including Senior Management, clients, and other departments, the ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise, and the ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Crucial to this position is the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • This position requires strong written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
Education
  • Position requires a four-year Bachelor's degree, Formal higher education (Bachelors or higher) may be substituted with experience at a 2:1.
  • Project Management certification/designation preferred
  • Scrum Master certification/designation preferred
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt designation preferred.
