JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates understanding of all set-up procedures and all molding machine functions.
  • Sets up, starts, and troubleshoots presses using established process control methods.
  • Sets up straight forward open and closed molds as well as more complex molds with multiple core pulls, auxiliary hydraulics, and manifolds.
  • Sets up and troubleshoots secondary equipment.
  • Monitors press cycle to ensure that presses are running to routing standards.
  • Initiates corrective action for jobs running out of standard cycle.
  • Demonstrates ability to set limit switches, timers, and process controls on presses.
  • Demonstrates ability to pull/clean screws and barrels.
  • Knowledge of IQMS system. Completes accurate IQ transactions.
  • Changes end of arm tooling and loads robot program into press.
  • Demonstrates ability to do basic robotic troubleshooting on end of arm tooling.
  • Measures parts at start-up.
  • Performs periodic inspection rounds when needed.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the fundamentals of RJG technology via e-dart control.
  • Relocates material and parts to the warehouse using a hand cart and/or forklift.
  • Performs material handling duties in a back-up capacity as required.
  • Completes cleanup duties and return supplies to the proper location.
  • Runs presses as needed.
  • Serves as a member of special project teams or attend training sessions as required.
  • Completes classes on materials, statistical process control (SPC), and basic processing skills as required.
  • Completes necessary inventory transactions.
  • Complies with safety guidelines, rules, regulations, and procedures as well as maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Meets productivity standards; strives to increase productivity and is able to meet goals pertaining to requirements.
  • Interprets blueprint specifications, set-up documentation, control plans, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Uses various inspection equipment or gauges to verify product quality and plot statistical data as required, generally involving several part numbers at a time.
  • Instructs other workers in machine set-up and operation.
  • Operates overhead hoist/crane to position materials.
  • Troubleshoots various engineering processes to provide support to the engineering function.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
  • Positions, adjusts, and secures stock material or work pieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists.
  • Reads blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.
  • Records operational data such as pressure readings, lengths of strokes, feed rates, and speeds.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

Knowledge:

  • Education/Training - High school diploma and 5 years related experience and/or training is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques related to Injection Molding.
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, utilized in Injection Molding process.  Hands on experience using measurement devices, i.e. calipers, micrometer, height gage, etc.  Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) procedures and applications. Experience using computer software products, i.e. MS Excel, MS Word.

  • Machine Operation & monitoring of machines (i.e., watching gauges, dials, and other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly)

  • Control Precision - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
  • Static Strength - The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively communicate.
