Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Attend to patients on the phone and in person for a very busy dermatology office. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality and timely patient care. Must be professional, cheerful, friendly, punctual, and detail-oriented. Work hours are Monday to Friday 7:30 or 8 AM to 5 PM.

We are looking to fill this position after the holidays.

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour DOE

Essential Functions

  • Greet and welcome all new patients and visitors to the practice.
  • Present iPads and provide assistance to patients to complete electronic check-in.
  • Collect payments.
  • Verify patients' insurance eligibility.
  • Know what insurance plans require referrals or authorizations.
  • Answer telephones promptly and in a polite and professional manner.
  • Monitor providers’ scheduling to maximize efficiency.
  • Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into our EMR software (EMA).
  • Answer questions and offer other information, as requested, to provide patient-focused service and a positive impression of the practice.
  • Reminder calls and reschedule appointments when necessary.
  • Act as a liaison for the patients and practice.
  • Direct calls to other departments as needed.
  • Schedule, and reschedule patients as needed.
  • Document cancellations, any and all discussions with patients.
  • Understand when to escalate calls to providers/supervisors.
  • Provide assistance with other projects as call volume permits.
  • Route faxes and correspondence to the appropriate entities.
  • Problem-solve as needed to ensure patient and provider satisfaction and positive outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
