Permaswage designs and manufactures separable and permanent fluid fittings and installation tooling for aerospace and defense applications.

Position Summary:

PCC Permaswage needs a highly skilled computer numerical control (CNC) programmer to lead their CNC programming team and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The software used to model components and to program CNC machines at PCC Permaswage are; SolidWorks, ESPRIT, Delcam and Vericut.

Primary materials to be machined are (but not limited to); aluminum, steel and titanium.

Primary control systems for our current CNC machines are; FANUC, Siemans and OSP.

CNC machines and robots at the facility include; 58 Okuma, 16 Nakamura, 12 Hardinge, 10 Index, 30 others, 2 robots and up to 20 more robots in the planning phase.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs CNC programming for most production equipment within the company's production facilities by transferring product design criteria into machine requirements.
  • Responsible to develop complex or revise non-standard CNC programs for CNC lathe, mill or electrical discharge machines, including machining operations in three axes simultaneously.
  • Use SolidWorks, ESPRIT, Delcam and Vericut to model components and program CNC machines with a goal of minimizing crashes, scraps and down time while improving overall machine productivity.
  • Be responsible for the design of fixtures, tools, jigs, and special equipment for CNC applications.
  • Conduct tooling and program design reviews to simplify tooling methods, reduce cost and cycle times while increasing first pass yield.
  • Prepare shop process manuals and supervise the process validation portion of new programs.
  • Assist in the training of operators on new CNC equipment and programs.
  • Communicate effectively with the manufacturing engineers, development engineering, plant personnel, and individuals outside the company.
  • Leads efforts with new machines/software and the development, implementation and documentation within department.
  • Review all defects caused by the machining process to develop corrective actions, then execute on these corrective actions to improve quality and safety.
  • Have a "continuous improvement" attitude for all current and future CNC programs and processes.
Qualifications:
  • S. in engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software
  • Skills in SolidWorks, ESPRIT, Delcam and Vericut would be a major bonus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
