DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY The Catholic Diocese of Victoria in Texas is currently seeking a Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry to join their team in Victoria, Texas (77901). Who we are: The Diocese of Victoria (DOV) was established on May 29, 1982. The Diocese of Victoria comprises the counties of Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca, Matagorda, Victoria, Wharton, Colorado, and the part of Fayette County west of the Colorado River. There are six deaneries in the Diocese of Victoria: Cuero, Edna, El Campo, Hallettsville, Schulenburg, and Victoria. The Diocese of Victoria includes more than 100,000 registered Catholics with a total population of approximately 300,000. Our official newspaper, The Catholic Lighthouse is mailed to more than 6,000 homes and is available online. Diocese of Victoria's social media currently includes Facebook, Diocese of Victoria. In addition to its 50 parishes and 17 mission churches, the Diocese of Victoria owns the Presidio La Bahia in Goliad, Texas. The Diocese sponsors 12 diocesan private and parochial elementary schools and 1 private and 2 parochial high schools. These Catholic schools, educate more than nearly 3,000 youth. About the role: The overall purpose of the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry role is to invite and accompany people to encounter Jesus for lifelong missionary discipleship, with a special pastoral emphasis on ministry to the whole family. Essential Job Responsibilities: The position is security-sensitive and requires extreme confidentiality, care, and trust. Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC). Collaboratively build and communicate a vision for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Facilitate partnerships and collaboration with the other ministries of the diocese. Be an advocate for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Assist parishes and schools in coordinating youth ministry efforts. Provide training for adults in the methods of relational ministry with youth. Ensure that youth ministry programs are truly catechetical and disciple-making, not only strengthening relational bonds with youth but also forming them spiritually, morally, and doctrinally in the catholic faith. Work with the Safe Environment Office to ensure compliance with programs and activities. Work with the Business Office to ensure that diocesan policies are followed. Lead campus ministry efforts at Victoria College and the University of Houston-Victoria. Proactively and creatively facilitate encounters with Jesus Christ for young adults. Work with OEC Family Life ministries to connect with young adults. Manage and execute diocesan events such as Camp David, Rocky Mountain High, Youth Leadership Training, Youth Spectacular, and the Golf Tournament fundraiser. Structure events with the intended outcome of facilitating greater discipleship to Jesus. Search for grant opportunities and apply for grants regularly. Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to parishes and diocesan staff. Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited American university or equivalent in a foreign country, or equivalent work experience. Five (5) years experience in youth ministry in a parish and/or school, preferred. Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license. Must be compliant with DOV Safe Environment and Transportation policy. Must know the teachings and structure of the Roman Catholic Church. Ability to use effective supervision techniques and personnel management practices with assigned staff. Ability to plan and develop the annual budget for office operations. Knowledge of successful organizational leadership and team-building skills. Proficiency in the use of various Microsoft Office applications and other tech programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive relationships with all segments of the community, provide excellent customer service, and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious, and laity. Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time management techniques. Ability to always maintain confidentiality. Ability to carry out multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow instructions furnished in verbal and written format. Working evenings, weekends, and some holidays, including overnight travel (sometimes outside the United States), may be required. May be required to use personal or diocesan vehicles for travel to parishes, schools, or other off-site locations.
