Description

As the Leader of the Software Engineering QA Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our software products, with a primary focus on automated QA tests. You will lead a team of skilled QA engineers in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks and processes. The role requires a deep understanding of the .NET framework, AWS services, containerized micro-services architecture, and proficiency in data ETL processes. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, providing guidance, support, and coaching to foster professional growth and development.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the QA team.
  2. Automated Testing Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive automated testing strategy for .NET-based applications, AWS services, and containerized micro-services.
    • Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks, tools, and pipelines to ensure efficient and effective test coverage.
    • Drive the adoption of best practices for automated testing across the software engineering organization.
  3. Test Planning and Execution:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies, test plans, and test cases based on business requirements and technical specifications.
    • Execute automated test suites and analyze test results to identify defects, performance issues, and areas for improvement.
    • Work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing phases.
  4. Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):
    • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable early detection of defects and ensure the delivery of high-quality software releases.
    • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions for test environments using AWS services and containerization technologies.
  5. Quality Assurance Processes and Standards:
    • Define and enforce QA processes, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and reliability in software quality across projects.
    • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of QA activities and drive improvements in testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and priorities.
    • Communicate QA status, risks, and challenges to project stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in leading QA teams in a software development environment.
  • Strong proficiency in automated testing frameworks and tools, with hands-on experience in .NET, AWS, and containerized micro-services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of testing methodologies, including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Load Testing, and Regression Testing, with a proven track record of implementing best practices to ensure software quality.
  • Expertise in testing data ETL processes and familiarity with data validation techniques.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and quality.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) and/or AWS certifications are a plus.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires the incumbent to work indoors at a desk for extended periods of time and use of work station.
