Job Description: Physical Therapy Assistant
The Physical Therapy Assistant provides treatment according to a plan developed by and under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, maintains communication with the physical therapist regarding patient plan of care, documents appropriately and maintains their own statistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements treatment programs to assigned patients, based on the treatment plan established by the physical therapist.
- Assumes responsibility for all documentation requirements in a timely manner.
- Provides feedback to the physical therapist on a regular basis, indicating the patient's progress in treatment.
- Coordinates with other disciplines as needed.
- Pro-actively alerts physical therapist regarding changes in patient condition.
- Recommends appropriate durable medical equipment in coordination with appropriate team members.
- Participates in discharge planning, makes recommendations in discussion with physical therapist for continued physical therapy.
- Attends all appropriate conferences, rounds, in-services and meetings.
- Attends clinics as assigned.
- Participates in supervision of PTA students on clinical affiliations.
- Must follow all MSH policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- 7 years of related experience
- Current New York State Physical Therapy Assistant licensure
- Excellent oral, communications and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate analytical problem solving skills
