Diesel Technology (Mechanic) Instructor

Location: Spanish Fork, UT

Status: Part-time

Hours: Monday – Friday, 11:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Pay / Hourly: $28.30

As an instructor, you will provide instruction to students preparing to become diesel technicians. Your focus will be on helping students develop the skills they need to be job ready. DIESEL TECHNOLOGY (MECHANIC) INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Instruct, manages, and supervises students in classroom and in the lab setting.
  • Evaluate instruction/learning by means of written, oral practical and performance tests.
  • Maintain student-oriented approach, desirable classroom/lab conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and current reports and records regarding student accountability, attendance, and performance.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the auto technician field
  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught including brakes, engine rebuilding, electrical, AC, cooling and exhaust, fuel systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques
  • Skill in course, program, and curriculum development, computer and computer software
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate student course work and classroom performance
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan, prepare, and carry out lesson plans
  • Interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making skills, ability to communicate orally and in writing, and ability to follow oral and written procedures and instructions

DIESEL TECHNOLOGY (MECHANIC) INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Diesel Mechanics, Auto Technician, or a related field, AND three years of industry experience OR a combination of education and work experience in the Diesel Technician field totaling six years;
  • Must have T-6 and T-8 series ASE certifications, and be able to acquire Master Technician status within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the auto technician field
  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught including brakes, engine rebuilding, electrical, AC, cooling and exhaust, fuel systems, etc.
