Position Summary: The Technical Designer – PPE Clothing will be responsible for designing and maintaining safety apparel for the industrial and retail markets. This includes ensuring consistent fit and construction that aligns with our customer needs and industry standards. Collaboration with internal teams, customers, and vendors to translate design concepts into technical specifications for RFQs and first prototypes is essential. You’ll be required to provide direction to global vendors regarding new product development, adjustments to in-line products and troubleshoot quality or fit issues. You will work under the direction of the product manager and be an integral member of the product development team.

Requirements:

Essential Duties Include the following:

  • Create technical specifications for new products, achieving optimal and consistent fit.
  • Craft and communicate tech packs including technical illustrations, construction details, and measurement specifications throughout the creation process. Maintain the library of tech packs and required documentation.
  • Measure/fit preproduction samples and provide complete fit comments and corrective direction to overseas production facility partners in a timely and articulate manner.
  • Utilize CAD to measure garments and ensure they conform to industry-required standards.
  • Produce final specs for publication and conformity documents.
  • Communicate with customers and salespeople regarding fit, quality, and recommended design specifications.
  • Design creatively while keeping costs of construction in mind, resulting in desirable and competitive products.
  • Partner with cross-functional team members to bring products to market, ensuring brand integrity for our company and customer partners.
  • Identify and proactively engage in competitive analysis.
  • Gather information for the new product setup process and follow through the system.
  • Review and approve package Master's to ensure the product is packaged correctly and consistently with brand guidelines and QC requirements.
  • Occasionally assist in creating packaging requirements or package masters.
  • Assist in creating presentations for customers including graphics to be used in PowerPoints, putting together sample sets, and sending samples with tech packs.
  • Develop and maintain product storyboards.
  • Evaluate products for quality issues and communicate corrective measures to customers and vendors.

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of garment construction, patterning, grading, and textiles.

• Computer proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel/Microsoft Office applications.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and be a self-starter; multi-tasking, detail-oriented and organized.

• Comfort with occasional public speaking.

• Strong communication skills with overseas production facility partners, customers, and salespeople.

• 5+ years of technical design and/or pattern-making experience in the apparel industry.

• Ability to respond quickly, positively, and creatively to inquiries from team members and external partners; must be a team

deadlines.

• Track and manage workflow using software tools and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed, meeting

deadlines
