Job Summary


The Summer Camp Counselor assists with all Jones Center (Center) summer camps. The role will also support the management team in maintaining and operating the facility. In addition, this position will require work with children.


Main Responsibilities
  • Support and implement quality summer camp programming.
  • Communicate with the leadership on issues related to summer camp programming.
  • Maintain day-to-day summer camp schedule. Be on-time and ready for all shifts.
  • Assist leadership, other staff, and campers during summer camp programming. This includes recognizing and responding appropriately to first aid needs and emergencies and handling customer issues or complaints.
  • Assisting with summer camp includes: documenting issues, supervising facilities, dealing with the public concerning summer camps, enforcing policies, guidelines and rules as to the supervision of children and use of facilities, and insuring that a standard of accountability and excellence is maintained throughout all areas of summer camps.
  • Demonstrate leadership, integrity, authenticity, teamwork, character, creativity, and passion to assure conduct, safety, and development of campers and their families.
  • Maintain and uphold the policies and procedures for summer camps and the Center and perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ability to interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Able to perform other general duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsRequired Skills and Abilities
  • Loves working with children of various ages.
  • Strives to maintain an energetic and positive attitude at all times, especially around children.
  • Must have a constant awareness for safety and wellness of children.
  • Calm under pressure and a constant problem-solving attitude.
  • Must be well organized and responsible.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with a solid service-oriented mentality.
  • Ability to follow directions and respectful of authority.
  • Ability to handle and respond to emergency situations to the best of their ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with communication apps like email, text messaging, and GroupMe.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Arkansas driver's license and good driving record.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Experience working with children.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
