AVP, Consumer Lending Systems & Credit AnalyticsACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

The AVP, Consumer Lending Systems & Credit Analytics will develop and evaluate credit data analytics models associated with VyStar's consumer lending platforms to provide qualitative analysis and quantify the organization's consumer credit risk exposure and evaluate the performance of established models and controls. The incumbent will provide model governance validation, statistical analysis and input for the development and implementation of policies, plans, and programs related to credit origination and portfolio monitoring. This includes effectively managing collaborative relationships with selected Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning third-party business partners. This position will manage a team of data and systems analysts, and lending platform system administrators. This team develops and monitors data models and reporting to enhance the overall automation, efficiency and risk of loan origination systems and portfolio quality.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Responsible for effectively hiring, building, and leading a high-performing team through effective coaching with a strong focus on employee development.
  • Management role requires incumbent to be a decision-making partner in hiring and terminating staff as business environments dictate.
  • Working in partnership with internal and external partners, including close partnership with IT and with external vendor partners.
  • Detail oriented, results driven, and can navigate in a quickly changing and high demand environment to develop solutions while balancing multiple priorities.

Systems and Data

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to include senior and executive management and other leadership to understand requirements and create solutions for credit analytics AI modeling and governance.
  • Responsible for the management of the consumer loan origination system(s), to include system updates and changes, vendor integration, and the overall workflow and user experience to maximize efficiencies.
  • Utilize analytical tools (SQL, R, Python) and data query tools to build, test, evaluate and maintain robust data analysis and reporting for management to make timely and informed decisions.
  • Support the implementation and post-implementation of business process changes in production. Gain department functional knowledge as it relates to business processes to capitalize on system and model enhancements.
  • Works with senior leadership to review and assess current and prospective vendors to integrate with loan origination system to enhance the workflow and member experience.
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to translate business challenges into an analytical framework. Independently provide business insights and recommend actions.
  • Enhance portfolio reporting, improve internal efficiencies, and meet changing management and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify required data and work with data stewards to understand data source, ensure data quality and retrieve data on a timely basis. Contribute to credit data mart and corporate database designs.
  • Identify and communicate data anomalies and requirements to the development team and other stakeholders.
  • Assist management with maintaining VyStar's compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances by abiding by VyStar compliance program and all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Risk, Growth and Model Management

  • Assess and strengthen VyStar's Consumer Lending Model Risk Management (MRM) framework, policy, and governance from the perspective of Credit Risk.
  • Provide robust data analysis and reporting, to include dashboards, for management to make timely and informed decisions.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and oversees data integrity testing of models and software application transactions and programs. Works with senior leadership and select department staff in creating scheduled model, system releases and enhancements. Communicates documented issues identified during testing to lending management and to EPMO/ISD project management, as applicable.
  • Works with analysts to create PowerBI dashboards and reports to monitor portfolio risk and production.
  • Conduct multi-dimensional data and analytical problem solving. Solve business problems by applying advanced data and analytical methods. Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data processing, analysis, evaluation of customer insights and presentations.
  • Work with key stakeholders and external business partners to evaluate, manage, and execute initiatives aimed at driving portfolio growth.
  • Validate requirements for new models, develop and enhance the soundness of models in use and work collaboratively with other modelers to mature the procedures and practices in place at VyStar with regards to model risk.
  • Communicate findings via effective model validation reports and/or presentations to all stakeholders throughout the organization including senior management, with a plan for corrective action.
  • Demonstrate to external regulators and internal auditors the operational soundness and effectiveness of the model validation process as required.
  • Provide "effective challenge" on ongoing model performance monitoring. Review and assess rigor of model owner/developer's monitoring plan, monitoring results, model performance thresholds, reporting, and process controls.
  • Review and opine on quality of internal or third-party vendor produced model documentation, model validation reports, annual model reviews, and ongoing performance monitoring and outcome analysis.
  • Independently identify and assess the sources and magnitude of model risk. Perform quantitative or qualitative risk assessments and recommend actionable triggers.
  • Conduct quantitative modeling on portfolio credit risk including default correlations, concentration risk and diversification benefit to inform credit risk appetite and concentration limits setting.
  • Recommends innovation including data analytics platforms to improve processing efficiencies, reduce costs and that align with corporate objectives.
  • Maintaining documentation for key processes and model components across the team with focus on standardization of processes; Engage model development teams, model production, and forecasting/model production team/users to develop consistent model implementation and process capabilities.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of model risk management related regulatory requirements / supervisory guidance to ensure adherence.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or relative quantitative field is required.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • NAFCU/CUNA Compliance Certification, a plus.
  • Continuing education via workshops, conferences, forums, industry think tanks, etc. is required for industry updates, ensuring regulatory compliance and certifications.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct management experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in building statistical models and advanced data analysis.
  • Applied experience with Logistic Regression, Linear Regression, Time Series Analysis, Decision Trees, and Cluster Analysis.
  • Advanced programming skills to include knowledge of statistical programs (SQL, SAS, Python, R).
  • Minimum three years of experience in the financial, marketing, or tech industry preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated proficiency in visual data analytics tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Google Data Studio.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and implement rapid changes in project direction.
  • Demonstrate strong data analysis skills, ability to understand underlying data and complex loss/balance forecasting models, various product features, possess organizational and prioritization skills, as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking using both analytical and tactical approach to problem solving is required.
  • Deep expertise in quantitative methods, algorithms, and statistical techniques as well as programming language.
  • Ability to support a collaborative working environment to enable well-considered and empirically supported decisions.
  • Ability to partner across business lines and work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to summarize key messages for senior management presentations. Ability to explain complex topics simply to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and work under tight deadlines, whether on independent project work or in conjunction with others on a team.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills to actively lead and implement ideas in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Expertise in Model Development, Model Validation, Model Risk Management, and a strong understanding of quantitative analysis methods in relation to financial institution and track-record in econometric and machine learning analytics.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in decision making and a strategic and trusted partner/advisor to the Line of Business.
