The Position:

Sales Manager - The Sales Manager Styrene Monomer (SM) is responsible for identifying for both Styrene Monomer as well as for Ethylbenzene (EB): new domestic accounts / customers; structural export customers; and opportunistic export customers, maintaining and growing existing partners and developing a strategy that anticipates different market cycles and demand patterns as well as optimizing the sales ratio between SM and EB to maximize profits. This position acts in highly volatile and cyclic markets requiring the necessity to react very quickly to changing market conditions through daily monitoring, analyzing, evaluating and decision making.

What you will do:

• Develop an annual sales strategy (both for Styrene Monomer and Ethylbenzene) for their accounts and define volume split between merchant and export customers together with the business team

• Responsible for understanding customer needs and growing the business in different business cycles

• Ability to analyze the market and trends, keep existing customers, identify new customers, replace existing low margin customers with new customers which provide a better netback

• Ability to communicate to a diverse audience (from CEO to operational level)

• Strong negotiator with good customer relationships

• Understands logistical issues of customers and works (together with supply chain, logistics, operations, and customer service) to overcome such challenges /changes

• Ability to quickly react to changing market conditions i.e., purchase larger volumes of styrene /Ethylbenzene during operational plant issues or planned TARs

• Maximize revenue stream from side products like PEB (Polyelectrolyte Enhanced Biopolymer)

What you will bring:

• Level of education & knowledge:
  • University degree, preferably in science and/or business

• Experience in general:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical industry.

• Commercial skills:
  • Competence and vision to enable the negotiation of shorter and complex, long-term contracts to ensure optimum business results.
  • Experience and competence to understand dynamic market environments.
  • Strong negotiating skills.

• Technical skills:
  • Profound understanding of economics, business models, chemical value chains and their interdependencies, understanding of finance and accounting, contract law, business systems.

• Competencies, Behavioral skills:
  • Strong communication skills, excellent team player, analytical and strategic thinking.
