The DIRECTV IT team enables customer centric solutions to support the strategic Marketing goals to expand and retain our customer base, by creating experiences that surprise and delight them.  Specifically, the Offers and Decisioning value stream within IT, further enables the creation of acquisition, retention, and loyalty offers and promotions by creating repeatable frameworks to support speed to market initiatives.

The Technical Product Manager is the technical lead for a team who is a voice of the customer, creates customer journeys and leads the end-to-end product management cycle for large and small initiatives and manages dependencies and cross-team impacts. This methodical manager is an active participant in the product management community (Business Unit) to promote best practices through educating their peers.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Plan short term (sprint-to-sprint) and long-term (multiple PI) initiatives along with organizing work and designs to meet the long-term target.
  • Author Features for large and small EPICs and Capabilities after doing thorough analysis.
  • Create customer journeys that marries the end-to-end customer experience with the technical system changes.
  • Mentor junior team members providing consistent guidance on approach and best-practices.
  • Manage risk and request help from key team members, when necessary, to meet commitments or change directions.
  • An excellent communicator, able to effectively synthesize key points of a topic and turn them into a persuasive conversation, presentation, or email.
  • An experienced leader of teams in mixed vendor/employee environments.
  • Independent and energetic in the pursuit of solutions to a challenge; persistent but diplomatic in working across teams.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience as an effective tech project or product management professional in a fast-moving business, or relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field (computer science, engineering, information technology, or the sciences) is preferred, and recommended.
  • Demonstrated experience of results and progression in varied challenges.
  • Ability to identify and execute on continuous improvement and optimization opportunities.
  • Big picture thinking – ability to connect the overall Business strategy with the IT requests/initiatives.
  • Ability to understand data attributes to be comfortable in the data centric Offers environment.
  • Business and end user advocate – including the ability to understand and create customer journeys for large strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other Product Managers across other IT value streams as well as Marketing.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to partner with Marketing counterparts to contribute to the overall roadmap and prioritize the backlog.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills with ability to multi-task.
  • Autonomous, goal-oriented individual who can independently handle and thrive with multiple priorities.
  • Critical Thinking – makes data-driven decisions while establishing effective metrics that strengthen results and optimize on technology stack.
  • Intellectually Agile – able to think deeply and qualitatively about strategy and vision.
  • Entrepreneurial – brings a high level of dynamic energy and an unrelenting diligence to succeed.
  • Pace Setter – able to lead by displaying an unparalleled work ethic; able to guide and mentor those around them.
  • Exemplary Communicator – articulate with an ability to communicate in a candid and clear manner; history of communication with C-level executives using oral, written, and presentation formats is preferred.

This role requires, but it not limited to, travel twice per year to El Segundo, CA, for team meetings.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES $105,830 - $192,050

Low (N1): $105,830 - $158,650

Mid (N2): $111,400 - $167,000

High (N3): $122,540 - $183,700

Top (N4): $128,110 - $192,050
