Southeastern Tool & Die, a family-owned manufacturer located in Aberdeen, NC, has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Purchaser.

Purchaser needed for local manufacturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing products and materials for a very fast-paced organization. Candidate would also be responsible for evaluating suppliers and negotiating price while considering quality, availability, reliability, and support. Prior purchasing experience required, preferably in a manufacturing setting. Blueprint reading is a plus. Company offers competitive pay and benefits package.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work from requisitions covering items and quality requirements.
  • Contact vendor representatives to obtain detailed quotations.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions affecting price and/or delivery arrangements.
  • Place orders, selecting proper sources of supply for the most economical purchases, giving full weight to pricing, delivery time, dependability and resourcefulness of the supplier to meet company requirements.
  • Contact suppliers on adjustments, incorrect materials, delivery deadline, etc.
  • Locate new sources of supply as necessary and keep abreast of changing market and material requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance of purchasing records and follow-up and expedition of orders.
  • Properly code purchase orders to properly generate ledger accounts and sales tax status

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

One-year certificate from a college or technical school; one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual must be computer literate and competent in Microsoft applications, i.e., Excel and Word.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate (Preferred, not required)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Purchasing: 2 years (Preferred, not required)

SCHEDULE:

8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
