Job Description/Scope of Work: The Fort Snelling National Cemetery is located at 7601 34th Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55450, requires in-person Interpreting Services to accommodate two (2) hearing-impaired Cemetery employees as needed, during designated stationary meetings.   In-person American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be required bi-monthly to attend at least two (2) monthly department training meetings and an all-employee meeting. Interpreting services must be provided in person, and an interpreter familiar with cemetery field operations is preferred. Service calls for monthly meetings will be a minimum of two hours. Additional interpreter services may also be required outside of the designated monthly meetings for presentations and/or other Cemetery events. Special events will consist of a Distinguished Visitor or a Ceremony Event.
This contract requires (1) or two (2) in-person American Sign Language Interpreters. No video or telephonic interpreting is acceptable. All events are stationary in nature. The type of event will dictate the number of interpreters required. The candidate will be provided with at least a 5-day advanced notice prior to the scheduled meeting, training, or event to accommodate Fort Snelling National Cemetery’s hearing-impaired employee(s) in attendance and participation in training, meetings, and events as needed. A summary of meeting details or agenda outlining the designated time, location, meeting topic, and attendees, will be provided to the candidate, prior to the meeting date/time.


Responsibilities:
Sanford Federal, Inc.  is seekingan ASL Interpreter to lead a federal contract. 
•Sign Language Interpreters shall arrive no later than 10 minutes prior to scheduled in-person assignment and no later than 15 minutes prior to a scheduled in-person special event. The type of event will be known ahead of time when the request for an interpreter is submitted by Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Services are typically not required on holidays. Should they be required, the hourly rate shall remain the same.
•Attire is a relaxed business casual. For special events or ceremonies, business casual attire may be required.
•Interpreters will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the cemetery.
•Travel time to and from the cemetery shall not be invoiced.

Base Period:  1 March 2024 - 28 February 2025

Qualifications:
  • All ASL Interpreters provided must be able to proficiently interpret oral communications for Deaf and/or Hearing-Impaired employees, customers, or applicants.
  • All Sign Language Interpreters shall use American Sign Language (ASL) to perform interpreting for Deaf or Hearing-Impaired employees and applicants.
  • All Sign Language Interpreters must be certified by the National Certification Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Conduct established by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) regardless of the type of qualification they possess with strict adherence to confidentiality.
