Veterinary Assistant

White Oak Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Experienced Veterinary Assistant that wants to grow with a full-service hospital. At White Oak we are committed to offering our valued clients personalized customer service, comprehensive medical care and advanced technology.

Hospital Hours

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday

8:00am – 5:30pm

Weekends & Wednesday : CLOSED

Veterinary Assistant duties:

• Client communication
• Triaging patients including basic injury/illness assessment, gathering patient information, and taking vital signs.
• Patient care and treatments
• Performing diagnostic testing including radiographs and lab work
• Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
• Assisting in taking radiographs
• Giving IV & IM injections
• Dispensing controlled drugs
• Monitor Surgical procedures.
• Lab Diagnostics
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
• Ability to provide high quality customer service.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
• Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday.

Education and Experience:

This position requires at least one year of veterinary experience.
