Job Purpose Statement:
The Carlstar Group Tire Builder is an hourly position responsible for continuous performance of assembling tires according to assigned specifications. The successful candidate will be committed to safety, good housekeeping, and a willingness to learn.
Summary of Responsibility:
Ongoing movement of depresses pedals to rotate drums, and winds specified numbers of plies around drums to form tire bodies
Starts rollers that bond tread and piles as drums revolve
Activates bead setters that press prefabricated beads onto plies
Cuts plies at splice points, and press ends together to form continuous bands
Aligns treads with guides, starts drums to wind treads onto plies, and slice ends
Position tires (up to 50 lbs) on rack
Positions ply stitcher rollers and drums according to width of stock, using hand tools and gauges
Pulls plies from supply racks, and aligns plies with edges of drums
Maintain housekeeping the Tire Building Area
Eager to be a Team Player and open to be assigned other duties, as needed

Apply common sense to carrying out instructions and procedures
Use problem-solving skills to deal with issues in process as they arise
Education and/or Experience:
The employee should have the following:
High School diploma/GED required
Manufacturing experience preferred but not required, candidate will be trained for this position in-house
Basic math skills a must: measurements (tape measure, gauge, protractor), division, adding, subtracting, etc.
