JOB OBJECTIVE: Follows established schedule for inside and outside painting projects to ensure that appropriate paint is applied in a safe and professional manner. Assume other general maintenance duties as time and schedule permit.


JOB OUALIFICATIONS/DUTIES:

  1. *Demonstrated painting skills as evidenced through previous work experience as a painter.
  2. Must be 18 years of age or over.
  3. *Must be able to use the English language to satisfy the communications and record keeping requirements involved in the performance of this job position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  4. Must maintain neat, well-groomed appearance adhering to dress code of the facility.
  5. *Must satisfy all established licensing and certification requirements applicable to this job position.
  6. *Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodation.
  7. *Must comply with facility's drug testing and substance abuse program and policies.

Given: None.

Received: Supervised by Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Facility Services.


JOB REPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. *Responsible for proper use and storage of all paint supplies and equipment.
  2. *Maintain a consistent schedule for campus projects including inside as well as outside needs.
  3. *Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies for painting needs.
  4. *To coordinate system to paint independent living units (occupied) without any damage to furnishings.
  5. *Able to do patch work on sheetrock and other related substances.
  6. To always employ proper safety guidelines when using ladders and other related equipment/supplies.
  7. *When not required to paint or when needed to assist with general maintenance, be responsible for duties associated with general maintenance staff.
  8. *To be able to hang, or learn to hang, wallpaper.
  9. Works tactfully and cooperatively with resident, families, visitors, and other staff throughout the facility.
  10. Abides by department policies, practices, and standards of care.

l l. Properly uses and cares for equipment and supplies.

  1. *Follows all safety, security, infection control, universal precautions, and hazardous materials policies and procedures. Performs all tasks to assure resident personal safety and the protection of co-workers and facility property.
  2. Knows and ensures that all resident rights are maintained at all times. Reports any violations or suspected deviations according to facility policy.
  3. Maintains confidentiality of all resident care information.
  4. Changes work schedule or works overtime on occasion to meet the needs of the facility.
  5. *Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
  6. *Assists other staff members as needed within the limits of training and certification.
  7. Assumes responsibility and accountability for information contained in the Employee Information Booklet.
  8. Attends staff meetings, in-service classes and committee meetings as assigned.
  9. Performs other related duties as directed by Associate Director and Director of Brookridge


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIRMENTS :

  1. *Constant walking and standing is required up to 90% of an 8-hour shift.
  2. *Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing from under 10 pounds to 50 pounds.
  3. *Required to constantly twist, stoop/bend, squat, crawl, climb ladder, climb stairs, walk on uneven ground, work above ground, and reach at, above and below shoulder level.
  4. *Frequently required to concentrate on minimal to fine detail with some interruption. Able to attend to a task/function for more than 60 minutes at a time.
  5. *Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, generally one at a time, and occasionally several ideas at a time.
  6. *Able to remember verbal and written task/assignments for a full shift of work.

7. Able to read small print in directions and labels, and discriminate colors.

8. Able to receive verbal instructions, answer phone, communicate with residents and employees in situations with some background noise.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :

  1. *Works in a climate controlled building with a temperature range from 68 to 80 degrees. Sometimes exposed to seasonal conditions in outside weather.
  2. *Frequently exposed to hazardous waste materials, chemicals, loud or unpleasant noises, and electrical and/or mechanical hazards.


EOUIPMENT UTILIZED:

Ladders, paint brushes, scrapers, paint rollers.

RESPONSBILITY IN AN EMERGENCY:

Expected to take a leadership role in responding to an emergency situation involving the safety and well being of residents, other employees and the physical plant, according to instructions and training provided by the facility. This includes the ability to assist with a possible evacuation of residents.
