Job purpose

Under the direction of the Restaurant Supervisor, the Host/Hostess is responsible for seating patrons in accordance with established policy and procedures on an assigned shift.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Responsible for knowing restaurant details, menu items and seating charts.
  • Record reservations, maintain knowledge of restaurant seating volumes and seat patrons accordingly in the appropriate sections.
  • Pace patron seating according to available tables.
  • Greet all guests in a smiling, courteous and professional fashion, with genuine warmth and a welcoming manner.
  • Seat patrons in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional personal appearance with high standards of personal grooming and dress.
  • Obtains basic information from guest such as name, number in party, and seating preferences.
  • Ushers guests to seat location at a pace that is comfortable to the guests.
  • Maintain excellent communication skills and interpersonal relations with guests, vendors, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Maintain personal health and sanitation standards (wash hands when using restroom, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
  • Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to obtain a gaming license.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in high volume food service, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated successful performance in a guest service role.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Ability to deliver a service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our guests want to return, giving each guest a positive, memorable experience.
  • Ability to use a computerized cash register system.
  • Ability to read ticket totals, total up credit vouchers, and log checks.
  • Commitment to routinely go above and beyond in the accomplishment of position responsibilities in an effort to play a role in the achievement of organizational goals.
  • Must present an image of excitement and enthusiasm, while being able to project a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Display strong work ethic and team work.
