SUMMARY:

School Coordinator: Responsible for general administration, implementation and coordination of a 21st Century Community Learning Center program for 100-200 students in a school building. Work as liaison between the Youth Services Department, the Buffalo Public Schools and Community Partners.

Community Center Coordinator: Responsible for general administration, implementation and coordination of the NURTURE Academy for 45 students & Summer Camp for up to 60 students at the community centers. Work as liaison between the Youth Services Department, Community Engagement Team, the Buffalo Public Schools and Community Partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operates a program in a school building or community center which may be School Aged Child Care Registered (SACC).
  • Successfully learn, adhere to and enforce all SACC Regulations to avoid violations and to ensure program maintains its SACC License.
  • Train and manage Youth Services Counselors on adhering to SACC Regulations
  • Assist in the creation of program curriculum and schedule for after school and summer programs.
  • Manage budgets for site supplies, equipment and events.
  • Reviews modifies, where needed, the individual services plans and case files.
  • Ensures individual case files are maintained and that targeted prescriptive plans to meet the needs of the youth and families are being followed;
  • Develops and maintains links to other agencies to meet identified youth and family needs; troubleshoots problems as they arise to insure the continuous and smooth flow of program services and activities.
  • Helps develop and organize distribution of promotional materials to increase youth participation.
  • Assists participating sites in organizing and implementing age-appropriate Community Service Projects.
  • Chaperones youth on field trips when scheduled.
  • Provides weekly and monthly program progress reports to the Vice President of Youth Services and also meets regularly with the Vice President of Youth Services for feedback and updates.
  • Coordinates and manages all partnerships relationships, ensure reports and paperwork are completed and sent in regularly and timely.
  • Works closely and cooperatively with all staff members to meet the goals and objectives set forth by department and/or agency funders (i.e., federal, state, and county regulations).
  • Responsible for overseeing and monitoring program records and reports for all programs in their site.
  • Responsible for researching and applying for grants to enhance the program.
  • Outline and oversee recruitment processes for all programs ensuring that projects progress on schedule and within prescribed timeline (ensure appropriate numbers of eligible students are recruited in a timely manner).
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend various educational tools to achieve program goals/outcomes.
  • Create and maintain an order and structure for the flow of programming for education programs.
  • Create and maintain a system that provides regular documentation regarding the progress and status of program participants
  • Coordinate activities of tutors, volunteers and mentors to improve the delivery of services to school age youth.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings with lead personnel to ensure quality of services for all students and participating sites.
  • Manages data entry of student attendance and assessments in online data collection systems such as EZ Reports and Cap60.
  • Manages budget expenses for all program funding.
  • Manages accurate reporting and documentation submissions to New York State Education Department (21st CCLC)
  • Demonstrates a positive work ethic and maintains confidentiality in appropriate program areas.
  • Cannot provide any personal service with children or their families within Youth Services Department programs while working for this department.
  • Assumes the leadership role in providing a positive educational climate.
  • Participate as a member of the After School Network of WNY.
  • Community Center Coordinators: manages the scheduling, set up and break down, cleanliness of all Youth Services and Community Engagement Activities within their building.

Salary Range: 41,000.00 USD Annual Onwards

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assigns tasks, motivates, resolves problems and provides daily direction and focus for Youth Services Counselors, Activity Monitors, volunteers and participants. Also manages program implementation. Indirect supervisor of janitorial staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Must meet all requirements to be become a SACC Site Director via registrar’s application:
    • Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work.
    • One or more of the following academic qualifications:
      • Associate's degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field
      • New York State Children's Program Administrator credential
      • School Age Child Care Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period
      • Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree or School Age Childcare Credential Preferred
