Field Sales Representative

Full-Time/

Freedom Ag & Energy is a farmer-owned cooperative with multiple locations in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, each with a rich tradition of serving the agriculture and energy needs of their communities. In addition to our traditional ag business, we offer products and services for home & garden, pet supplies, animal health, outdoor recreation, heating and cooling. Our growing energy department serves both business and residential customers.

General Summary

Manages and develops sales relationships for a defined set of current and prospective customers within an assigned geographic territory which may encompass several counties. Performs on-farm sales calls to review needs and provide solutions through the sale of various products, focusing on feed, primarily beef and equine, minerals, animal health products and associated products and services. Optimize customer engagement, facilitate efficient service, and achieve sales and performance targets. Relies on agricultural industry expertise, detailed knowledge of FAE products and services, developing strong customer relationships and achieving sales goals.

Provide technical assistance and information regarding equine and beef farm management and production best practices. Assist with identification of issues related to animal health and nutrition. Recommend products and services that best support the customer's operational needs.

Utilize interpersonal skills and account management techniques to foster positive, long-term business relationships with current and prospective customers. Negotiate and execute sales agreements, including pricing, payment terms, incentive programs, and delivery schedule. Knowledge of CRM Tool to maintain accurate customer records, prospect lists, and report weekly sales calls to both customers and prospects. Transmit weekly fieldwork reports and weekly expense voucher to appropriate manager.

Promote the FAE brand and business philosophy in a positive and customer-focused manner throughout the local community and sales region. Plan and coordinate livestock/equine meetings with current and prospective customers. Participate in local community meetings (producer meetings, USDA, and Extension meetings) and maintain active membership on county extension boards or Ag related councils.

Requirements

A combination of completed coursework and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Education: Bachelor's Degree, will consider other education with related sales/agriculture experience

Experience: Requires 5+ years of feed, on-site sales experience. Requires knowledge of primarily beef, equine and poultry feeds. Previous Freedom Ag & Energy work experience strongly preferred.

Licensing: Requires valid Driver's License

May require one or more of the following, or ability to obtain: Commercial Driver's License, Commercial Pesticide Applicator License, Certified Crop Advisor, Certified Feed Advisor License
