Intensive Care Unit - Registered Nurse

Experience:

• 12 months of role experience is required.

• 12 months of Intensive Care Unit experience is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a South Dakota license or compact license in hand at the time of application.

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Candidates must live at least 100 miles away from this facility in order to be eligible to apply for this role.

• COVID vaccination required for onboarding. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Flu vaccination required for onboarding. Declinations not accepted.

Monument Health blackout dates for RTO are 8/1/24 - 8/18/24.

Guaranteed Hour: 48

Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.

• Patient Types:
• -Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
• -Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population
• -Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers (Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff)

Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

• Skills required:
• -Travel experience is excluded from ICU experience. If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience excluding travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, please have CRT send to management team for approval
• -Experience with the above-mentioned patients
• -Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry

• -Impella, IABP and CRRT – strongly preferred

• Floating:
• -Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor – including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio.
• -ICU RN will float to ED if experienced/qualified

Scheduling: Every other weekend, no call. No RTO during holidays. Must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract for excessive RTO. No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August every year)
