Position Title: Overnight Front Desk Manager

Position Summary

The Overnight Front Desk Manager leads all overnight operations at the Hotel with the guidance of each respective department head. The Overnight Front Desk Manager will manage and monitor the daily operations of the hotel, supervise and support all Front Office operations and staff, oversee hotel availability, room inventory, increased sales and profitability, and ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support all Front Office staff (including Front Desk, Bell Staff and Concierge) to ensure exceptional service for guests
  • Hold shift briefings to communicate daily events, VIPs, current hotel offerings, updated policies, weekly training topics, occupancy, day of selling strategy, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of all of hotel outlet offerings, facilities and local area events
  • Report and follow up on any guest issues while maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Conduct daily walks of public areas and spaces and report/correct any concerns with the appropriate departments and follow-up
  • Assist with implementation of new policies and procedures and ensure Front Office staff adhere to existing performance standards and attendance policies
  • Cultivate a positive and professional environment in guest areas and in back of house that motivates and inspires the staff
  • Oversee all audit procedures, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy of all hotel revenues
  • Act as Housekeeping Manager and/or Outlets Manager in their absence
  • Assist with Front Office payroll audits, outlets closing and opening procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimal supervision
  • Possess a strong knowledge of all hotel and F&B operations
  • Ability to make a long-term commitment to the overnight shift in support of its growth and development
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees and the public
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests and the general public
  • Must possess basic ability to analyze and understand forecasts and budgets
  • Displays orientation to profitability and aligns work with strategic goals. Develops and implements cost saving measures, conserves organizational resources and works within approved budget
  • Exercise sound and accurate judgment with regards to decision making in a timely matter
  • Detail oriented and efficient in compiling and filing paperwork
  • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications – especially Excel, Outlook, and Word

Education and Work Experience

  • At least 3 years Front Office experience
  • At least 1 consecutive year working overnight shift
  • At least 1 in a supervisory role at a full service hotel

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and lead all overnight Front Office staff
  • Act as Manager on Duty for all departments and Outlets

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Oral and written mastery of English; Second language skill is desirable, especially Spanish, French and Italian

Reasoning Ability and Computer Skills

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ideal candidate possesses a strong working knowledge of Opera PMS and Opera Cloud
