Executive Director- $70,000-$100,000 - Saint John, NB, CA

The Role

Do you possess a proven track record in fundraising leadership, including grant writing and donor cultivation? Are you equipped to devise and execute strategic plans that will drive us towards tangible achievements and impact? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are a pioneering social initiative that strengthens and nurtures communities, looking to appoint an adept and experienced Executive Director to our team.

You will be the driving force behind our organization's mission, vision, and overall strategy. Your responsibilities will span strategic planning, program management, governance, compliance, and advocacy efforts, shaping the very essence of our legacy.

This full-time role may require travel throughout NB to develop and support programs, as well as occasional Saturday and evening work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the public face of the organization, representing it to the community, school district personnel, government agencies, other organizations, and the media. Engage in advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the organization and drive positive change.
  • Lead the organization in strategic planning processes, ensuring that goals and objectives are established, and progress is monitored and evaluated regularly.
  • Responsible for fundraising and financial management, including developing fundraising strategies, cultivating relationships with donors, writing grant proposals, and ensuring financial sustainability of the organization.
  • Ensure the organization operates in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Oversee governance structures and processes with the support of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee and track social media activities, utilizing various platforms to amplify the mission of Bee Me Kidz.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates and leveraging their expertise and networks to advance the organization’s mission.

The Organization

Bee Me Kidz (BMK) is a pioneering, research-backed social initiative that strengthens and nurtures communities. Now in its 10th year, Bee Me Kidz empowers children to understand their emotions, foster community connections and extends support in schools, homes, and communities. Through our programs, parents find solidarity in raising their children and establish a supportive network, strengthening ties with their children’s schools.

The current in-school program is making a positive difference for more than 1900 children every week. Additionally, our weekly Saturday Program attracts approximately 500 children and over 200 parents, providing an interactive and vibrant learning environment that concludes with a wholesome brunch.

The Person

  • Demonstrated ability to provide visionary leadership, inspire teams, and guide the organization toward its mission.
  • Capacity to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, including grant writing, donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Strong financial acumen to effectively manage payroll, budgets, allocate resources, and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, including donors, board members, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including partners, volunteers, and government agencies.
  • Strong writing skills, particularly creating engaging, effective, and persuasive donor communications materials and resources (proposals, impact reports, grants, etc.)
  • Skilled in developing strategic plans, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes to ensure organizational effectiveness and impact.
  • Commitment to ethical practices, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of organizational management.
  • Relevant education, such as a degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field, coupled with ongoing professional development in leadership and management.
  • Ability to speak, read and write French an asset but not mandatory.
