WATER AND WASTEWATER CONVEYANCE & TREATMENTSENIOR ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER

CPL is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to support and lead planning and design efforts for water and wastewater conveyance & treatment-based projects in New York State. Aging infrastructure, increased regulations, and environmental stewardship are driving factors for our existing and potential client base. You would support these efforts from start to finish, from the preparation of preliminary engineering report to the final close-out of construction. Making a difference in the communities we work in by helping our clients obtain State and Federal grants, leading them through the regulatory hurdles, and implementing cost effective solutions.

Preference would be for you to work out of one of our New York State offices, but it is not required. CPL also has offices in Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Consideration of partial or full-time remote work is also a possibility.

Serving in a leadership capacity, those in this role assume full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating a wide range of engineering assignments, providing expert insight to team members to ensure effective execution through all project phases. Reporting to a Principal, the Sr. Engineering Project Manager plans and develops complex engineering projects of various sizes. Providing oversight and project management to our agile teams, your core competencies include distributing resources; managing and estimating budgets; supervising team members; and establishing, maintaining, and fostering relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Your expertise encompasses design for large and complex projects, and your technical skill enables you to efficiently oversee a multitude of assignments at any one time.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Professional licensure (PE) is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and juggle critical tasks, seeing them through to completion while maintaining high design standards and adhering to established project timelines
  • You earned a BS (and/or MS) in civil engineering from an accredited institution and have at least twelve (12) years of related work experience – or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Thorough understanding of the foundational principles of engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, plans and specifications, as well as their application and relevance to public works and construction projects
  • Ability to foster a creative engineering environment
  • Strong communication skills, (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the building systems engineering discipline
  • Expertise in water and wastewater process design

CORE DUTIES

  • Oversee all aspects of concurrent design and construction projects
  • Preplan and determine funding avenues for projects by collaborating with clients, consultants, and agencies
  • Develop project scopes and objectives and coordinate all efforts – administrative and technical – to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects
  • Attend, participate in and lead client vision sessions
  • Develop new client relationships and work proactively to enhance existing partnerships
  • Assist the marketing team in the development of project proposals, as well as efforts to grow the business
  • Manage or oversee overall project schedules and budgets
  • Provide management of internal finances, which include billing, invoice generation and asset/resource allocation
  • Perform quality assurance/control on other's work, verifying methodologies, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Keep abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes
  • Supervisory requirements, including recruitment and retention of talent including:
    • Engage and foster the growth of CPL team members. Provide encouragement and regular feedback; and serve as a mentor/example for all levels of the team. 
    • Manage/oversee career conversations with your team on an established schedule (annual career conversations, regular check-ins, and the development of career plans for each team member) 
    • Develop future leaders within the organization (train your replacement) 
    • Engage, motivate, and lead internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies and plans to move the organization in the desired direction.  
    • Influence people through effective communication

The rate for this position generally ranges between $104K- 177K annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
