We are searching to fill a full time Purchasing Manager position with a manufacturer located in the Syracuse, NY area.

Salary Range: $80k to $100k per year PLUS relocation assistance available.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Purchasing Manager to oversee the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. In this role, you will play a key part in managing our vendor relationships, ensuring stock levels meet our needs, and contributing to our budgetary success.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify and source equipment, materials, and products.
  • Analyze market trends and predict future material availability.
  • Prepare and present market reports and merchandise cost analyses.
  • Manage the purchasing process, including preparing and processing purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and approve bids for awarding contracts.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with vendors and resolve any grievances.
  • Manage purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Oversee the removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Administer the departmental budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
  • Proven negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Understanding of business and management principles.
  • Knowledge of the materials and supplies used in our industry (a plus).
