Job Description
Mercy Flights is accepting applications for a Communications Specialist.
This position provides high quality professional support to internal and external customers. Communications Specialists receive and transmit emergency and non-emergent information via radio, computer and telephone. They work integrally with front office staff to ensure appropriate patient information is gathered for ground and air transports. Communications Specialist also serves as a liaison for referring hospitals, the 911 Centers and other EMS and public service agencies. This position works in a team environment to maximize individual and team performance.
Position Information:
- Full-time, non-exempt position.
- Twelve (12) hour shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Starting pay rate: Market comparable (Depending on Qualifications).

Qualification Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including word, excel, outlook and web based applications;
- Keyboarding proficiency;
- Customer service experience;
- Must be eligible for DPSST certification (Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards & Training (DPSST). Required to obtain within twelve (12) months of start date in position.
- One (1) year dispatch or public safety related experience preferred.
- International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (IAMTCS) Certified Flight Communicator within one year (1) of employment.
- Advanced Communication Specialist Certification (IAMTCS) completion within twenty-four (24) months of employment.
- First Aid and CPR certification. Required to obtain within six (6) months of start date in position.
