The Residential Advisor position is a part-time position working with our clients. Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays.

Our Residential Advisors have the following responsibilities:

1. Monitor client activity in accordance with the guidelines prescribed in the New Paths policies and procedures.

2. Execute job duties with a high priority of professionalism, client and staff safety and accountability.

3. Work toward establishing a calm and supportive environment which promotes positive and healthy behaviors.

4. Communicate clearly and consistently the client’s activities as needed in the station log book, broadcast and/or email, as appropriate.

5. Communicate clearly and consistently any violations through the RMS system.

6. Communicate legibly and clearly any incidents to clients, staff and/or visitors through the documented incident reporting process.

7. Maintain clear and accurate completion of daily, weekly and/or monthly checklist(s).

8. Document and monitor client departures from and returns to the facility in accordance with the guidelines prescribed in the New Paths policies and procedures.

9. Provide both written and verbal daily feedback to incoming shift on all relevant shift occurrences.

10. Assist clients in self-administration of medications in a timely and accurate manner.

11. Conduct roll calls as scheduled and randomly when indicated or directed.

12. Escort clients to and from all scheduled activities such as meals and smoke breaks.

13. Conduct room searches in accordance with the documented guidelines.

14. Conduct physical searches according to agency policy and procedure.

15. Check client rooms for cleanliness and direct residents to corrective action if needed.

16. Check assigned daily work projects are completed by clients on each shift.

17. Participate in regular team supervision, meetings and trainings.

18. Work as a coordinated team member alongside Therapists, Recovery Coach, Care Coordinators and other Residential Advisor staff members.

19. Performs any other duties assigned by the Clinical Support Supervisor and/or Clinical Manager.

REQUIRED ABILITIES AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

1. Two years of experience in Human Services and/or Associates Degree in related field.

2. Demonstrate clear and concise writing abilities.

3. Skill in communicating with a variety of people from varying backgrounds.

Preferred:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a human service, or related, field.

2. Experience in a residential setting or human service program.

3. Knowledge of substance use disorder dynamics and treatment methods.

4. Knowledge of Genesee County Criminal Justice and Human Service Delivery Systems.

Physical Demand:

Duties conducted within a professional office setting and access areas within the building using stairs. Regular computer keyboard use and some light lifting (10-15 lbs.) may be required. Some travel may be associated with the position.
