TITLE: Host / Hostess

DEPARTMENT: Dining Room

REPORTING TO: Clubhouse Manager, Director of Food & Beverage, Food & Beverage Managers

POSITION SUMMARY: The Host/Hostess will provide and ensure a positive first impression to the Club's Members and guests while dining by delivering an enthusiastic, courteous and friendly disposition and warm consistent greeting. Although the primary responsibility is greeting and seating members and their guests according to pre-assigned tables, this position will handle other responsibilities including answering the telephone and taking reservations by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets all guests coming into the club to dine and answers incoming phones during the shift. Greets Members by name, with a consistent and sincere greeting, and knows their needs all while continuing to strive for perfection. Uses Member's names as much as possible throughout their visit.
  • Accepts takeout orders from Members when called into the Club. Places orders into the Point of Sale System and ensures that the order is correct prior to sending it out to be picked up.
  • Checks all email, computer and phone messages for reservation updates and places them into the master reservation system.
  • Assists Food & Beverage Managers and the Director of Food & Beverage with creating a daily seating chart complete with server assignments and all reserved tables.
  • Ensures that the restaurant and its tables are set up daily according to the reservation list.
  • Tracks all cover counts and inputs into both Jonas and the master reservation systems for tracking. Inputs all daily sales and covers into the F&B Daily Report.
  • Advises Manager on Duty of any special request for seating, food or beverage or any special notes made in reservation system.
  • Keeps Dining Room, Lobby, and entry areas clean, neat and organized.
  • Assist Manager on Duty with checking to ensure that the restrooms are kept tidy and up to standards.
  • Assists with table and beverage service as needed.
  • Updates menus and check presenters with promotional material on a daily basis.
  • Receives and relays Member concerns with food, beverage or service with the Manager on Duty.
  • Serves as a liaison between Members/guests and the Dining Room staff.
  • Speaks clearly and articulately and develops a professional friendly rapport with the Members and guests.
  • Assists with the protection of all club property.
  • Escorts Members and guests to their assigned tables. Pulls out chairs for all ladies and unfolds napkins and places in the leaps for all diners.
  • Provides a first class operation with a friendly, courteous and professional attitude to Members and guests and fellow staff members.
  • Does not fraternize with Members or guests while on or off duty or consume alcoholic beverages on premises.
  • Any and all other tasks special assignments as needed.

Education / Experience

  • At least 2 years customer service experience. A minimum of 2 years related experience, in a private club, hotel or resort setting preferred.
  • Must be able to multitask and able to stay calm and focused in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have a personable and outgoing personality and a "Voice with a Smile".
  • Must have an eye for detail and ability to communicate articulately with Members, guests and fellow employees.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Jonas POS system preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Knowledge of Internet and basic Internet functions and use
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend spreadsheets, diagrams, schedules, etc.
  • Must have the ability to understand, interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and scheduled form.
  • Must be able to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends and holdiays

Certifications

  • CPR/AED Certification preferred
