Migrant Outreach Worker/Planner I

Job Description:

The Delaware Department of Labor is seeking a person to conduct outreach with migrant farmworkers statewide.

Essential Functions fundamental to this position are knowledgeable of migrant related issues and ability to speak, write, communicate and translate Spanish. Core functions common to this position and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Since specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. The incumbent shall report to the DOL Senior Administrator/Criminal Justice Advisor. The primary work location will be at the DOL American Job Center in Georgetown Delaware.

Explain to Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers at their working, living, or gathering areas (including day-haul sites), by means of written and oral presentations either spontaneous or recorded, in a language readily understood by them, the following:

(I) The services available at the local American Job Center

(ii) Information on the Employment Service and Employment-related Law Complaint System;

(iii) Information on the other organizations serving MSFWs in the area; and

(iv) A basic summary of farmworker rights, including farmworker rights with respect to the terms and conditions of employment.

(vi) Assistance in the preparation of applications for employment services;

(vii) Assistance in obtaining referral(s) to current and future employment opportunities;

(viii) Assistance in the preparation of either ES(Employment Service) or employment-related law complaints;

(ix) Referral to supportive services and/or career services in which the individual or a family member may be interested
