Location: Onsite, Bakersfield Union Office 


SUMMARY 

As the Data Analyst, your primary responsibility is to analyze and leverage data to support the implementation and optimization of the education platform within educational institutions. This role is integral to ensuring that the platform effectively enhances accreditation processes and facilitates informed decision-making by educators and administrators. You will play a key role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive continuous improvement and maximize the impact of the education platform on educational excellence.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but not limited to the following. Collect, summarize, aggregate and analyze data that will be utilized to make strategic decisions. 


1.Data Collection and Management:

  • Collect, summarize, aggregate, and analyze data to support strategic decision-making processes.
  • Utilize computer database management and spreadsheet programs to research and analyze data, coordinating data collection and preparation through computer-generated reports.
  1. Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to WASC committee and senior management team.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to accreditation processes and educational outcomes.
  1. Support for Student Support Services and Special Education Departments:
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and dependability of data related to discipline and attendance reporting.
  • Provide technical data for project management and reporting in student, school, and systems administration practices.
  1. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with departments and site staff as necessary to ensure effective data management and utilization.
  • Engage stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements, providing support and guidance on leveraging data for decision-making.
  1. Technology-Based Project Management:
  • Assist in planning and implementing technology-based projects related to student-level data, such as student progress, attendance, and discipline reports and assessments
  1. Database Management and Protocols:
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing protocols and processes for departmental database management to standardize and ensure accurate data collection.
  1. Documentation and Correspondence:
  • Maintain and write various records, reports, and correspondence using current software supported by the organization.
  1. Training and Support:
  • Provide training and support to educators and administrators on effectively using data to inform accreditation processes, instructional practices, and decision-making.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of collected and analyzed data, implementing quality assurance processes as needed.
  1. Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the workplace, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to:

  • AA degree in computer science or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years of database related experience; Preferably People SOFT, MS ACCESS, MS SQL
  • Extensive background with instruction, school management, and accreditation:
    • Prior experience on WASC teams.
    • Prior experience as a classroom teacher or counselor and a supervisor or administrator.
    • Expertise or experience in one or more of the following education areas: comprehensive, postsecondary, supplementary education, public, private, religious, online learning, and/or charter schools.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of assessment of student learning and programs, data analysis, program development and evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and research related to learning and curriculum implementation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use current technology for documentation, data management, information retrieval, webinars, and other means of communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a team environment. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to travel as needed/required. 


LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, reports, and etc. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, and other personnel.  


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position must have/be able to:

  • Enter data into a computer terminal/typewriter and operate standard office equipment.
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids.
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
  • See, hear and speak with/without assistive devices sufficient to communicate effectively with others.
