JOB DESCRIPTION FOR TEACHERS (CAREGIVERS):

The Lead Teacher is responsible for formulating and implementing the curriculum, the weekly lesson plans, and training of Assistant Teachers. The Lead Teacher is expected to help in the classroom as needed, and at times, to even help in groups that are not officially under his/her jurisdiction. Another key role is to be a liaison with parents and staff relationships as well as peer relationships. The Assistant Teachers and / or floater will report to the Lead Teacher with any problems they may have. The Lead Teacher is responsible to report to the Director. The person selected for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children and have at least a CDA. This person must also have classroom experience. Management skills and experience are a plus. This person must also exhibit sensitivity, an ability to prioritize, have common sense, and have the ability to see all sides of every situation.

Goals and Responsibility:

1. Using appropriate communication skills with other staff members, parents, and children.

2. Continually check attendance of children as compared to scheduled days.

3. Talking with the director if there are problems with employees.

4. Having respect for children.

5. Document all paperwork completely.

6. To make sure all children's files are updated and correct.

7. Actively participate in special functions.

8. To be available to stay late, or come in early, if a parent sets up a meeting or there is a special circumstance requiring attention.

9. To know all First Aid procedures and preferably have CPR training.

10. To always possess professionalism.

11. To know Information in Abacus' Parent Handbook and intake paperwork.

12. To be a leader to other staff.

13. To wash hands as specified in the handwashing procedure.

14. To be prepared for each day and to arrive at work on time.

15. Knowing ratios of all areas.

16. To be courteous and helpful to parents.

17. To be able to assume any responsibilities as requested by the director or assistant director.

18. To be aware and put in an order for supplies as needed.
