This Opportunity

FPA is currently searching for a full-time Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Designer at our Headquarters in Wall Township, NJ.

As a member of FPA’s Marketing Department, you will be part of a dynamic team of industry professionals, operating in a fast-paced, competitive environment. The ideal candidate will be able to integrate quickly with the team and provide detail-oriented and organized support to aid the department’s on-going activities and pursuits. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing.


Core Responsibilities

  • Storm drainage system design including associated equipment, specialties, and pipe sizing.
  • Natural gas system design including associated equipment, specialties, and pipe sizing.
  • Sprinkler system design including associated equipment, specialties, and pipe sizing (Fire pump, special service pump and clean agent system experience is preferred).
  • Existing conditions surveying
  • Construction administration services including submittal review, RFI response and field observation reporting.
  • Develops/designs solutions for a variety of technical problems of minor to moderate scope and complexity across the plumbing/fire protection engineering discipline.
  • Develops specifications, system narratives and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering production software including AutoCAD, MS Office, etc.
  • Revit proficiency is preferred.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey, New York City building Codes.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards
  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent is Preferred but not required.
  • Certified Plumbing Design (CPD) Certification is preferred.
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) Certification is preferred.
  • HASS (Hydraulic Analyzer of Sprinkler System) software proficiency, or similar
  • 10 years related project experience
