Job Description

Bethany School seeks Substitute Teachers for on-call work. Successful candidates are culturally competent, responsible, caring, and enthusiastic people who possess sharp teaching skills and positive experience working with students in grades K-8.

Each Bethany School faculty member is expected to:

  • Foster and steward a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy in and out of the classroom
  • Set reasonable expectations for the development of the mind, body, and spirit
  • Exhibit a solid working knowledge of best teaching practices
  • Identify and support students' social, emotional, and academic needs
  • Provide timely feedback to students and families via online portals, email, and phone calls
  • Design and facilitate productive dialogue among students and teachers
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students/families about classwork, learning goals, and student progress
  • Demonstrate content knowledge and expertise and scaffold curriculum to ensure progress toward mastery of skills and concepts
  • Collaborate and plan actively for learning

Qualified candidates will possess or demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
