Job Description

Under the supervision of the Membership Director, this person is responsible for providing care of children who participate in the childcare program and maintaining open communication with parents. Child Watch and Club House staff is also responsible for providing exceptional customer service and shall act as a relationship builder with all members, participants, staff, and guests.


YMCA CHILD WATCH AND CLUB HOUSE


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Ensure that children and parents are greeted in a pleasant, professional manner.

• Engage children in conversation and activities that will assist in transition anxiety.

• Provide a safe, caring, fun environment for all children, in accordance with our child safety policies.

• Participate and engage in age-appropriate activities with children while maintaining supervision of all children in the program.

• Maintain discipline and order by way of redirection. Contact parents if their child can’t be comforted, is ill, or injured, in accordance with our policies.

• Maintain cleanliness and care of childcare rooms, equipment, and facility.

• Maintain materials and supplies in proper order and restock as necessary. Report to Director if equipment needs repair or replacement.

• Present a professional manner through a neat and clean appearance. Dress code adherence is required.

• Use proper/appropriate language and tone of voice at all times.

• Communicate both positive and negative behaviors of children in the program to their parents, in privacy, in a constructive manner.

• Communicate with co-workers to ensure supervision is maintained in all areas at all times.

• Complete accident/incident forms as needed. Communicate incidents to the Director on Duty. Complete behavioral warnings as needed. Notify the Welcome Center/Director on Duty of any emergency, accident, injury, or incident. First aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.

• Take responsibility for assigned shifts, arranging coverage if unable to be on duty, with approval of Membership Director.

• Attend regular staff meetings as scheduled.

• Fulfill office duties, such as filing, copying, and assisting with mailings, as assigned, during slow periods.

• Present and uphold YMCA of Greater Springfield policies, and demonstrate core values of the YMCA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, determined by the department supervisor.

• Must be able to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

• Must have good communication skills.
