Body Shop Painter Assistant

Job Summary:
The Body Shop Painter Assistant at Briggs Automotive Group in Manhattan, Kansas is responsible for aiding the lead painter in preparing, mixing, and applying paint to vehicles in the body shop. This is a full-time individual contributor role in the auto industry, with opportunities for growth and development within the company.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead painter in preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming
- Mix and match paint colors according to manufacturer specifications
- Apply paint to vehicles using proper techniques and equipment, such as spray guns and brushes
- Ensure a high-quality finish by following the lead painter's instructions and performing touch-ups or rework as needed
- Clean and maintain paint equipment and shop area to ensure a safe and organized work environment
- Keep meticulous records of paint usage and inventory levels
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure timely completion of all projects
- Continuously strive to improve processes and techniques to achieve the best results

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in auto body painting preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with different types of paint and spray guns
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects for extended periods of time
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
