What You Will Be Doing:

You will leverage your expertise in cloud technologies and scientific computing to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable software systems that transform massive scientific datasets into actionable insights for the Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of cloud-based solutions for processing and analyzing scientific data.
  • Build and maintain robust, scalable infrastructure on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Architect and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes or similar container orchestration platforms.
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines for handling large, complex scientific datasets.
  • Design and implement data-intensive APIs using gRPC for efficient data access.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using a general-purpose programming language (experience with Go is a plus).
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (scientists, data engineers, etc.) to understand and meet scientific computing needs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience (a 4-year degree is strongly preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (Go, Java, C#, Python, etc.) with a focus on backend development.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of relational data models (RDBMS/SQL) and experience with query optimization.
  • Experience with distributed software systems, message queues, and scalable storage solutions.
  • Expertise in unit testing methodologies and practices.
  • Experience building and maintaining data-intensive APIs using gRPC (a plus).

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Go programming.
  • Experience with protocol buffers and RESTful API design.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Experience working with scientific datasets or applying quantitative science to real-world problems.
  • Exposure to scientific programming languages (R, Python, Julia).

Pay:  $65.8 – $94 /hr.
