Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in the Trading Compliance group of our Legal, Government Compliance, & Audit organization. We are looking for a Trading Compliance Associate to join our team in Inver Grove Heights, MN. This role will be responsible for helping empower CHS to compete with integrity and confidence in the highly complex and regulated global marketplace that CHS encounters each day through daily operational and tactical support. In addition, this role will obtain, validate, and aggregate business unit information and prepare reports as required by relevant regulatory authorities and CHS leadership. We are looking for a self–motivated candidate that possess strong analytical skills; written and verbal communications skills; and understands, or has a demonstrated ability / capacity to learn, how the regulatory environment impacts business operations.

Responsibilities

Analyzing/Monitoring/Reporting

  • Perform timely reviews of communication and trade surveillance alerts.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations related to alerts identified through surveillance reviews or other program knowledge. Communicate findings and recommendations to Derivatives Trading Compliance Senior Manager(s).
  • Monitor trading activity for compliance to policies and participate in audits or investigations as required. 
  • Assist with trading compliance-related questions from business units and escalate to Derivatives Trading Compliance Senior Manager(s) when needed. 
  • Partner with business units to address issues and assist in the rollout of new business products and/or initiatives. 

Administration of Training and Communication 

  • Assist Derivatives Trading Compliance Senior Manager(s) in review of training materials related to regulations and rules, as well as tracking of session completion. 
  • Assist in the ongoing maintenance of compliance policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with Trading Compliance Program communications efforts with business lines. 

Research and Program Management/Enhancement 

  • Maintain program management records.
  • Assist Derivatives Trading Compliance Senior Manager(s) in conducting commercial operations or business process assessments under the Trading Compliance Program.
  • Maintain and develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional and/or regulatory publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
     
Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or related areas of study.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to assess and understand complex situations presented by the business and provide appropriate compliance guidance/solutions.  
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand organizational structure for the purpose of compliance testing and monitoring.
  • Able to work effectively and meet goals both as part of a team and independently. 

 
 

Additional Qualifications
  • 0.5 - 1+ years of experience in commodity risk management in one or more of the following areas:
  • Commodity trading, Commodity execution, Commodity operations, Commodity risk management, Derivatives Trading compliance. 
  • Experience working with a compliance surveillance system, conducting investigations, or writing case summaries.
  • Experience working with large data sets.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, and regulations, such as CFTC, NFA, Commodity Exchanges, NGFA, GAFTA.
  • Understanding of micro and macro-economic factors that impact commodity supply and demand, physical and financial derivative markets, and commodity risk management.
