Peer Support Intern|Alaska Behavioral Health
Adult Services – Peer Lounge

About the Team

Our peer support team is a dedicated group of professionals who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive assistance to our clients. We create a warm and supportive environment at our Peer Lounge, where individuals can receive peer support, participate in group sessions, and work towards their recovery goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to clients in the Peer Lounge, offering empathy, encouragement, and practical assistance.
  • Facilitate group sessions focused on topics such as coping skills, wellness strategies, and community resources.
  • Assist clients with discharge planning, including connecting them with community resources and follow-up support.
  • Collaborate with clinical team members to ensure the needs of clients are met and that the Peer Lounge operates smoothly and effectively.

Internship

  • Position is based in Anchorage, Alaska.
  • 25 hours per week, assigned to an LPSA (Lead Peer Support Administrator)
  • After closing, interns will work with the LPSA to learn documentation as the LPSA bills for the service in CareLogic.
  • Interns will be at the center for no more than 12 weeks.
  • Interns will receive:
    1. Letter of acknowledgement for the time invested.
    2. Up to 325 billable hours.
    3. 15 hours of supervision.
    4. Completion and paid submission of their Peer Support Certification Application to ACBHC.
  • This internship will prepare candidates for future jobs and give them valuable experience in the field.

What We Need from You

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Interest in behavioral healthcare and peer support.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Possession of a valid Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
