JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Assistant Team Lead
DEPARTMENT: Retail
REPORTS TO: Team Lead
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt


JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising employees and overseeing all store operations and donor activity in absence
of the Team Lead. He or she and the Team Lead will be the driving force in meeting established revenue goals
and budgeted expenses. He or she will maintain and teach all guidelines and procedures of the POS system
and the Push System. He or she will be responsible for the opening of and closing of the retail store in the
absence of the Team Lead. He or she will be responsible for fulfilling and maintaining all phases of the PUSH
SYSTEM on a daily basis. He or she and the Team Lead will train and provide guidance, on a daily basis, to all
employees employed at their retail site. Will provide the highest level of professional customer service to
customers and donors at all times. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will be responsible for the completion of accurate sales reports, accurate bank deposits, credit card
    settlement reports, inventory/return reports, and donor records. All daily, weekly, and monthly
    reports are to be completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain proper cash controls in accordance with company set policies and procedures.
  • MUST keep up to date on all significant changes or problem areas and see they are corrected and
    addressed.
  • Help provide leadership, coaching, supervision to all store personnel, and community service workers.
  • Help Team Lead in recruiting, interviewing, screening, and orienting job candidates to fill retail
    openings.
  • MUST be a team player. He or she must actively participate in team meetings to improve sales,
    inventory levels, inventory floor plan, Push System process, and customer service.
  • Along with Team Lead must meet and/or exceed set revenue goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Human Resource and other pertinent facility information.
  • Ability to communicate the Goodwill Mission to customers, donors, and staff. Must be able to explain
    how the Goodwill Store, Transportation Department, and Donation Center support the mission.
  • Must assure the compliance of company policies and procedures by all retail store personnel at all
    times.
  • Insures the highest level of customer/donor Customer Service standards are met at all times.
  • MUST know and follow the set guidelines and procedures.
  • MUST know, follow and assist Team Lead in teaching the set guidelines and procedures of the Push
    System in placement and rotation of merchandise onto and off of the sales floor.
  • Assistant Team Lead in maintaining proper inventory volume and quality on the store sales floor at all
    times. Level to be determined by the Push System and set Sales Floor Plan.
  • Mandatory to work day of shipment arrival and the day after shipment arrival.
  • Retail Personnel may not purchase any merchandise at the store they are employed at. Employee
    must purchase from another Goodwill location. He or she cannot ring up family members or friends.
  • Assists Team Lead with maintaining quality control standards, addressing and resolving problems,
    insuring ongoing improvements of Push System process, company procedures and work schedules.
  • Assure that the facility operates with high priority on safety regulations and work rules.
  • Must rotate opening and closing shifts with Team Lead.
  • Follow and maintain all established security procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment at all times.
  • Must have reliable vehicle to transport deposits to bank.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate POS system, credit card terminal; take money as well as credit cards.
  • MUST maintain accurate cash and balance with cashier settlement report.
  • Ability and knowledge to prepare bank deposit, deposit slip and make deposit at the end of business
    day.
  • Ability to follow instructions and directions.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule and flexible hours Sunday thru Saturday of each week.
  • Ability to help plan and organize employees work schedules to meet the demands and specifications of
    retail POS system, Push System, store sales, and donation center needs.
  • Ability to aide in screening, interviewing, hiring, and providing direct training of staff.
  • Ability to lead and motivate store staff to build a strong sales team.
  • Ability to gather, examine, record and relate personnel productivity on a verbally, written and
    automated basis.
  • Ability to arrange multiple work assignments and conflicting schedules.
  • Ability to cope with conflicting points of view and be able to effectively handle the expected and the
    unusual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to store personnel, customers, donors, visitors, and staff.


2. Training and Experience:

  • Computer skills
  • Able to count and do math.
  • Able to read, write and complete paperwork.
  • Prior cash register and checkout experience.
  • Ability to operate POS system, fax machine, credit card terminal.
  • Ability to calculate figures.
  • Must be able to perform as a team player with Team Lead and co-workers.
  • Retail/inventory experience. Preferably supervisor status.


3. License or Certificate:

  • Valid driver’s license required.


4. Physical/Sensory Demands:

  • Full range of motion, with the ability to move throughout the store, shipment/return area and
    donation center site.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach for eight (8) hours or more.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 35 pounds as required.
  • Satisfactory eyesight: Visually distinguish methods of payment, follow appropriate procedures, and
    ensure that product quality and safety guidelines are being met.
  • Ability to understand merchandise for packaging, organization and display.
