Vaco is helping a longstanding client in the Peachtree Corners area find a new test technician / lab technician. This is not a medical labratory role, rather the electrical test tech performstests and inspections on a wide variety of components and systems used in industrial power generation, including electrical distribution, instrumentation and control, and mechanical equipment. Tests range from simple functional tests up to complex environmental and seismic (earthquake) simulation tests. We are looking for experienced techs (at least 2 years) and are offering a pay range of $52.5K - $57.5K depending on experience.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of complex projects and solve technical problems
  • Train and mentor junior technicians
  • Set up and operate test equipment
  • Perform inspections and tests in accordance with procedures and in a safe manner
  • Document test results and complete detailed test reports
  • Review test reports and ensure all required data is recorded and all parameters are within specifications
  • Read and understand technical documentation, such as datasheets, drawings, test procedures, equipment manuals, etc.
  • Communicate with Engineering and Quality Assurance to ensure that all project requirements are met
  • Identify and report equipment and process problems, and advise on possible solutions
  • Research test methods and identify test equipment needs
  • Act as a technical resource for customers , vendors, and internal staff when required
  • Maintain an orderly and safe work space
  • Perform repair and rework of equipment as directed
  • Assemble, wire, and test control panels following drawings, schematics, and procedures
  • Provide quality control oversight of work performed at vendor sites
  • Support other processes when required

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in a technical field (or equivalent military training), or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a technician in the industrial trades, aviation, electronics, or similar
  • Ability to operate test and measurement equipment such as digital mutimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation resistance (megger) testers, circuit breaker and relay test equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic test equipment, electronics test and calibration equipment, dimensional inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components and systems
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, datasheets, equipment manuals, technical drawings and schematics
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete test reports and project documents
  • Must have good organization and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under strict quality controls
  • Ability to learn new skills and dedication to training, development, and continuous improvement
  • Experience in electrical control panel assembly, wiring, soldering, and light fabrication (drilling, tapping, punching) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Office Suite and computerized work management
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs, bend over, walk, reach overhead, step on a small ladder. Pass a J1 eye test.
  • Experience with quality assurance programs is a plus
  • Occasional overnight travel required: up to 25% but typically less than 10%
