Dura-Bond Pipe, a manufacturer and coater of large diameter steel line pipe, located in Duquesne, PA, has an immediate opening for a Quality Manager. Reporting to the Superintendent, this position will lead the implementation, support and continual improvement of quality management systems and practices to assure that products and processes adhere to internal and customer specifications and standards.
Create/implement lab testing specification requirements to meet customer and API requirements; oversee production quality to ensure quality product is being produced; monitor Lab testing results for accuracy, timeliness ensuring all customer and API specifications are met.
Lab Oversight requirements:
- Review and understand work schedules and customer data sheets.
- Review and understand customer specifications.
- Audit and record daily run data from all plant equipment.
- Cut and prepare metal samples daily.
- Monitor / audit the plant application process.
- Monitor / audit rail car loading and final coating quality.
- Monitor / audit coating, steel, and grind.
- Monitor / audit and record inbound material.
- Perform all lab testing required to complete the daily coating samples.
- Keep the lab and all tools and work areas clean and organized.
Education & experience:
- Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, (or an equivalent combination of education and on-the-job experience)
- Must have a minimum of a NACE Level 2 Certification
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality management, ideally in a steel coating or metal-process setting; strong ability to perform statistical analysis of processes and drive sustainable process improvements and controls.
- This is a permanent direct hire position; all applicants must pass background and substance screening.
