Responsibilities

• Evaluate dental needs of individuals by conducting a dental history and reviewing their medical history
• Conduct oral exams of the hard and soft tissue of the mouth - checking for decay, plaque accumulation and other anomalies
• Evaluates periodontal health by probing
• Performs quadrant scaling and root planning
• Administers oral prophylaxes and tropical fluoride treatments
• Discusses causes and solutions of oral hygiene problems with patients 
• Checks and maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes instruments
• Reviews annual dental objectives and maintains electronic dental records
• Assesses community dental health needs and helps develop and evaluate programs to meet those needs

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Idaho
• Willing and able to carry equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds
• Licensed Idaho driver with dependable car

Preferred Qualifications

• Public health experience
• Experience working with minorities or disadvantaged groups
• Educator - experience with individuals and groups
• Demonstrated knowledge of current dental practice
• Bicultural/bilingual or experience working with Hispanic populations
