Job Overview

Right from the start, you will have exposure to the fundamentals of banking, positions and departments to establish a core understanding of banking. You will engage in project based work and networking opportunities while receiving guidance from your leader. You will develop professional and interpersonal skills that will be invaluable throughout your career.

The Credit Analyst intern will provide support to Credit Analysts as they underwrite loan requests for business and commercial real estate, reviewing and analyzing financial and industry data, borrower performance and management capabilities to assess credit worthiness and estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit to commercial customers. This year round internship is in-person at our branch in Merrillville, Indiana. This internship would begin in the fall of 2024, and be 10-15 hours during the school year and up to 40 hours during the summer.

Duties
  • Gather and analyze customer financial data to evaluate risk.
  • Monitor credit requests for adherence to written lending policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions
  • Complete required training associated with job function.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Must be a Junior or Senior at the start of the internship.
  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree with major or minor in Accounting or Finance.

Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications. Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), quality of documentation, timeliness and the ability to exercise prudent judgment for solutions from unexpected situations that arise.
