Operator Repairperson

Job Summary

To contribute to our goal of exceeding customers' expectations by delivering competitive, quality amorphous metal products and services on time, every time. The Operator-Repairperson – Bldg 90 position is responsible for DT Core, slitting, winding, annealing (heat-treating), and testing amorphous metal ribbon products (e.g. braze products, pulse cores) to ensure they conform to customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions

· Cut and or assemble DT cores

· Use forklift, crane, electric lift, and/or up-ender to position amorphous metal spools on slitter or winder

· Set up slitter, take-up spools, and winder (i.e. thread up); slit and/or wind materials onto take-up spools

· Visually inspect wound materials and measure using hand tools, including micrometers, eye loops, and calipers

· Visually inspect, flow test, measure with a micrometer, and conduct magnetic testing for brazing products and pulse cores, which must also be wound with a layer of insulating Mylar

· Lift wound spools (maximum weight of 25kg or 55lbs) on and off-scale and record data in the computer system

· Wrap wire sets around ribbon spools and measure conductivity & magnetic properties using testing machinery

· Manually load amorphous spools of metal ribbon into an annealing oven, allow the oven to cycle, and allow materials to cool before unloading

· Send samples to the quality assurance (QA) department, as required

· Generate product labels and enter tracking information into the computer system

· Manually move wound product spools to pallet, box, or wooden crate, and use a forklift to transport pallet or crate to inventory or to the warehouse for shipping

Push scrap hopper to baler, load, and initiate baling; manually move compacted bales into holding bin
Note: This position can rotate between the slitting & winding, braze, pulse cores, annealing, and testing functions, as skills permit

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

· Ability to read and understand measurements and directions

· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Basic computer skills: ability to enter, retrieve, and evaluate data

Education, Training, & Experience:

· High school graduate or equivalent (required)

· Prior industrial/mechanical experience (preferred)
