Wheaton Bible Church is looking for its next Director of Accounting to provide the leadership and management of our financial and accounting staff and operations; ensure that excellent services are provided to donors, employees, departments and volunteers; and ensure that financial reporting is accurate, timely and compliant. This person will oversee the annual budget and audit; maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls to reduce risk of misappropriation of ministry assets; ensure the integrity of financial matters; increase accuracy of financial results; and ensure compliance with tax regulations exemptions. Requirements
The Director of Accounting will be a seasoned and mature leader with at least 7 years of broad accounting experience including all or most of the following:
  1. Bachelors in accounting; CPA strongly preferred.
  2. At least five years of financial and accounting management experience.
  3. Demonstrated excellence in managing accounting, budgeting, and controls.
  4. Demonstrated abilities in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial and accounting systems policies and procedures.
  5. Solid understanding of financial reporting, chart of accounts design, financial report design, payroll compliance, and financial accounting systems.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP; experience with the accounting and reporting required in a non-profit organization preferred.
  7. Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  8. Proven success in managing and developing staff and cultivating team spirit.
  9. High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  10. High level of interpersonal and relational skills, and a servant-like attitude.
  11. Effective communicator, with strong verbal and written skills.
  12. Self-starter; problem-solver; works with minimal supervision.
  13. High ability to be flexible, manage time and set/shift priorities while meeting deadlines.
  14. Acceptance and agreement with WBC Statement of Doctrine and Faith and WBC Statement of Christian Lifestyle.
  15. Willing to become a regular attender and member of WBC.
